Who is Ted Childs?
Edward Samuel "Ted" Childs is an English television producer, screenwriter and director, whose notable works include The Sweeney, Kavanagh QC, Soldier Soldier, Making Waves, Inspector Morse and its spin-off Lewis. In 2001 he was the recipient of the Harvey Lee award for outstanding contribution to broadcasting at the 2000 Broadcasting Press Guild awards. He quit Lewis during the production of the second series, citing creative differences.
In 2012, Ted joined fans of the 70's hit show The Sweeney as special guest at The Sweeney Meet - a twice yearly event held in Hammersmith, London. In recent years, the event has attracted other stars who appeared in The Sweeney such as John Lyons, Prunella Gee, Harry Fielder & Ray Barron.
