Who was Toba Sōjō?
Toba Sōjō, also known as Kakuyū, was a Japanese astronomer, an artist-monk, and the son of Minamoto-no-Takakuni.
Although he is frequently credited as the artist of the famous picture scroll Chōjū-giga, there is no conclusive proof of this claim.
