Who was Ulick Bourke?
Canon Ulick Joseph Bourke, was an Irish scholar and writer who founded the Gaelic Union, which later developed into the Gaelic League.
Among his works were The College Irish Grammar and Pre-Christian Ireland. Bourke was educated at Errew Monastery; St. Jarlath's College; and Maynooth College and was ordained as a Roman Catholic priest in 1858.
