Who is Urbano Lugo?

Rafael Urbano Lugo Colina is a former pitcher for Major League Baseball.

Lugo was signed by the California Angels as an amateur free agent in 1982. During his career, Lugo played for the Angels from 1985 to 1988, the Montreal Expos in 1989 and the Detroit Tigers in 1990. Lugo also played for the minor leagues with the Edmonton Trappers from 1986 to 1988 and the Indianapolis Indians in 1989.

In his rookie season, Lugo started in ten games and played in ten more, posting a 3–4 record with a 3.69 earned run average. In the seasons that followed, he never appeared in more than thirteen games in a single season. In his career, Lugo pitched 91 strikeouts and achieved a 3.75 ERA in 162 innings.

His father, of the same name, was a successful pitcher in his homeland of Venezuela, having both pitched for the Leones del Caracas of the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League.

In 2009, Lugo was inducted into the Venezuelan Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum.
