Who is Uwe Daßler?

Uwe Daßler, also spelled "Uwe Dassler", is a former middle- and long-distance freestyle swimmer from Germany, who won three medals for the GDR at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, South Korea. He was European champion in the 400 m freestyle in 1985 and 1987.

At the 1988 Olympics, Daßler set the men's 400 freestyle world record in winning the event in 3:46.95.
