Who was Väinö Liikkanen?
Väinö Liikkanen was a Finnish cross-country skier who competed in the 1920s and 1930s.
He was born in Virolahti.
Liikkanen won a silver medal in the 50 km event at the 1932 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid, New York. He finished 9th in the shorter cross-country skiing event at the same Olympics.
He also won two medals at the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships with a gold in the 4 x 10 km and a bronze in the 18 km.
