Varalaxmi Sarathkumar is the daughter of prominent actor and politician, R. Sarath Kumar. Varalaxmi Sarathkumar was born to actor R. Sarath Kumar and his first wife, Chaya, on March 5, 1985 in Chennai, India. She also has a younger biological sister named Pooja, as well as a half-brother, Rahul, born to her father and his present wife, actress Raadhika Sarathkumar. After attending St. Michael's Academy School in Chennai, Varalaxmi studied at Hindustan College affiliated to Madras University, earning a degree in microbiology. She also earned a Masters degree in Management at the University of Edinburgh, Scotland, graduating in 2007.
