Who was Vincenzo della Greca?
Vincenzo della Greca was a 17th-century Italian architect.
Della Greca born in Palermo on 5 Feb, 1592.
In 1623 he worked on the Castel Sant'Angelo in Rome as well as fortifications commissioned by Pope Urban VIII.
The Roman Church of San Caio built in 1630 but demolished in 1885 is attributed to him.
Della Greca worked on Santa Maria delle Grazie, in Marino.
The most important work for which he is remembered is the Church of the convent of Santi Domenico e Sisto which now serves as the University Church of the Pontifical University of Saint Thomas Aquinas, Angelicum. The church was a collaboration between many architects including Giacomo Della Porta, Orazio Torriani, and Giovanni Battista Soria, the last of whom della Grece replaced at his death. Della Greca completed its facade in 1655.
