Vladimír Špidla is a Czech politician, currently president of Czech social democratic think-tank Masaryk Democratic Academy. He served as Prime Minister of the Czech Republic from July 2002 to June 2004 and as European Commissioner for Employment, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities from November 2004 to February 2010.
