Who is W. K. Stanton?

Walter Kendall Stanton was an important English organist and composer of sacred music. At Salisbury Cathedral he was a chorister. Subsequently he was educated at Lancing College and then Merton College, Oxford, where he served as organ scholar. He served various schools as Director of Music: St Edward's School, Oxford; Wellington College; Reading University; the Midland Region of the BBC; and Professor of Music at Bristol University.

Stanton composed mostly choral music, including almost 50 hymn tunes and numerous choral anthems, several of which have become standard church choir fare.
