Who is Walid Shoebat?

Walid Shoebat is a Palestinian American Christian who converted from Islam. A self-proclaimed former "Palestinian Liberation Organization terrorist", with no documented facts supporting his claims according to CNN. He lectures on the dangers of Islamic radicalism. and says he is a strong supporter of the state of Israel. Born in the West Bank to an American mother, Shoebat claims he firebombed an Israeli bank which also was found to be false when investigated by journalists.

He has been interviewed as a terrorism expert on several television programs, including a handful of appearances on CNN and its sister network, HLN, in 2006 and 2007. The BBC, Fox News and CNN have presented Shoebat as a "terrorist turned peacemaker." In 2011 CNN investigative reporters found no evidence to support his claims of PLO affiliations or being an "ex-terrorist", which he cites as the grounds for his authority on "the mindset of a terrorist".
