Who is Walter Mattli?

Walter Mattli is a Fellow in Politics at St. John's College and Professor of International Political Economy in the Department of Politics and International Relations at Oxford University. Professor Mattli is the Senior member of the Oxford international relations society.

Walter Mattli was born in Lucerne, Switzerland. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Geneva and his Ph.D. from the University of Chicago. From 1995 until 2004 he taught at Columbia University in New York where he was Associate Professor of International Political Economy and a member of the Institute of War and Peace Studies.

In 1995, Walter Mattli was awarded the Helen Dwight Reid Award of the American Political Science Association, in 2003 the JP Morgan International Prize in Finance Policy and Economics of the American Academy in Berlin, and in 2006 a two-year British Academy Research Fellowship. In 2012, he was appointed co-editor of the journal Regulation and Governance. He serves also as editor of a new book series with Oxford University Press titled Transformations in Governance.
