Who was Wesley Emmet Gatewood?
Wesley Emmet Gatewood, M.D. was born in "a log cabin with a dirt floor" on October 23, 1845. At the age of 19, Dr. Gatewood began recording his activities almost daily. His journals report his life as a Southeastern Ohio farmer advancing through a Dartmouth College medical degree. He returned to Ohio and later Nashville, Tennessee to practice medicine. He reported on his travels and his impressions of the Civil War.
