Who was William Alexander Graham?
William Alexander Graham was a United States Senator from North Carolina from 1840 to 1843, a Senator in the Confederate Senate from 1864 to 1865, the 30th Governor of North Carolina from 1845 to 1849 and United States Secretary of the Navy from 1850 to 1852. He was also a candidate for the vice-presidency in 1852.
