Who was William Gibbs McAdoo?
William Gibbs McAdoo, Jr. was an American lawyer and political leader, who served as U.S. Senator from California, Secretary of the Treasury and director of the United States Railroad Administration. By virtue of his position as Secretary of the Treasury, in August 1914, he served as an "ex-officio member" on the first Federal Reserve Board in Washington, DC.
