Wim De Waele

Who is Wim De Waele?

Wim De Waele is a Belgian economist and computer scientist. He is Director of iMinds located in Ghent.

In 1987, he graduated in economics and computer science at the University of Ghent. He started his career as a researcher on artificial intelligence at the university. Afterwards he continued his career at Siemens at the research departments in Brussels and Munich, where he continued his work on intelligent software systems. He then started working as Services Director for the Canadian company Numetrix. in 1994, he joined i2 Technologies as Services Director for Europe. Later on he became vice-president for consumer goods and retail and moved to the headquarters of i2 Technologies in Dallas. On his return to Belgium in 2001, he became Chief Technology Officer of the Real Software Group. Since 1 August 2004, he is Director of iMinds. He has a daughter Hannah and a son Ruben.
