Who is Wolfgang Maennig?

Wolfgang Maennig is an Economics professor and was a competition rower and West Germany Olympic champion.

Maennig won a gold medal in coxed eights at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, as a member of the West German rowing team.

Wolfgang Maennig is professor at the department of economics of Hamburg University. Beforehand he was professor at E.A.P. Paris-Oxford-Berlin-Madrid. He was a visiting professor at the American University in Dubai as well as the Federal University of Rio, at the Universities Stellenbosch and Istanbul, and at the University of Economics Bratislava. He was also visiting scholar at International Monetary Fund in Washington, D.C. and at Deutsche Bundesbank.

His research concentrates on regional economics, sport economics, and real estate economics and has been published in academic journals.

Wolfgang Maennig has worked as an expert for many bids of large sport events, e.g. the Olympic bids of Berlin 2000, Leipzig 2012, Munich 2018 and the Athletics World Cup Berlin 2009.
