Who is Xu Zhonglin?
Xu Zhonglin was a Ming Dynasty Chinese writer, best known as the author of the mythological-fantasy novel Fengshen Yanyi.
Some say that Xu wrote the novel for a trousseau for his daughter. His hao, a type of Chinese style name, might be "Zhongshan Yishou", which literally means "a carefree old man living in Zhongshan". The name appears in Chapter 2 of Fengshen Yanyi.
