Who is Christopher Otcasek?

Christopher Otcasek is a singer who formed Glamour Camp and signed to EMI, where the band released their self-titled, debut album in 1988. On the album’s leadoff single, Otcasek affected an Iggy Pop-esque croon, which garnered some light rotation on MTV.

The album wasn't a big seller, and Glamour Camp’s debut served also as its swan song. However, Glamour Camp lives on the Pretty Woman soundtrack album, although many of their owners may not even realize it. Their 1989 version of "Real Wild Child", itself a cover of Australian Rock and Roll singer Johnny O'Keefe's 1958 hit "Wild One", was recorded for the bestselling soundtrack in 1990. The song had previously been renamed twice. The Crickets member Jerry Ivan Allison, using the name Ivan, covered the song in 1958 and renamed it "Real Wild Child". Iggy Pop recorded it for his 1986 album Blah Blah Blah and gave it the title that both Glamour Camp and Lou Reed used for their versions—the latter in 1993.

Christopher Otcasek is the son of Ric Ocasek, founder and frontman of The Cars.
