Who is Michael W. Doyle?
Michael W. Doyle is an international relations scholar best known as a theorist of the liberal “democratic peace” and author of “Liberalism and World Politics,” the 16th most cited article in the 100 year history of the American Political Science Review. He has also written widely on the comparative history of empires and the evaluation of UN peace-keeping.
He is the Harold Brown Professor of International Affairs, Law and Political Science at Columbia University - School of International and Public Affairs. He co-directs the Center on Global Governance at Columbia Law School. His most recent publication is Striking First: Preemption and Prevention in International Conflict He is the chair of UN Democracy Fund, elected by the members and appointed by UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon. In 2009, he was the recipient of the Charles E. Merriam Award for Outstanding Public Policy Research of the American Political Science Association, a biennial award given “to a person whose published work and career represent a significant contribution to the art of government through the application of social science research.” In 2011, he received the APSA's Hubert H.
