Who was Slavník?
Slavník was a Bohemian nobleman, the founder of Slavník's dynasty. He is said to have had consanguinity with the Saxon kings.
He had several children by his wife Střezislava. Six of his sons are known by name: Soběslav, Saint Adalbert, Spytimír, Pobraslav, Pořej and Čáslav. He had also a son named Radim by another woman. According to Cosmas' chronicle, Slavník was a happy man all his lifetime.
It is supposed by some historians, that either Slavník or his wife Střezislava had kinship with the Přemyslid dynasty, who were the rulers of Bohemia. Střezislava might have been a daughter of Vratislaus I of Bohemia, Slavník's relationship to the Přemyslid family could have been through his father Vok, possibly a nephew of Borivoj I of Bohemia.
