Who was Abaaq al-Khwarazmi?

Aziz ibn Abaaq al-Khwarazmi was a commander under Malik Shah I and later became the first Seljuk ruler to gain independence from the Great Seljuk Empire. He founded a state in Damascus in 1076, where he commenced the construction of the Citadel of Damascus. His successor was the brother of Malik Shah, Tutush I.
