Alexander Morrison "Alistair" Carmichael is a Liberal Democrat politician. He has been the Member of Parliament for the Scottish seat of Orkney and Shetland since the 2001 general election.
He is the Deputy Leader of the Scottish Liberal Democrats, chief whip of the Liberal Democrats, and Deputy Chief Whip of the UK Government Coalition.
