Who is Namoli Brennet?

Namoli Brennet is a Tucson-based trans singer-songwriter who has been touring the United States since the release of her first album in 2002. Her live performances are primarily acoustic, although she has been known to augment them using loops, synths, bass pedals and foot percussion. Her music has been described as "Gorgeous and introspective" and she's well known for the honesty and intensity of her live shows as well as her quirky and comedic between-song banter. She's released a total of nine albums on her own record label, Flaming Dame Records, and her 2010 release "Black Crow" was named one of KXCI FM's 50 best albums of the year. Brennet is a multi-instrumentalist who engineers her own recordings; on her most recent CD, We Were Born to Rise, she played over 17 different instruments including, melodica, clarinet, hammond organ and banjo. Her music was featured in the Emmy-award winning documentary, "Out in the Silence" which details the struggle of a gay teen growing up in rural Pennsylvania. Brennet has shared stages with Melissa Ferrick, Jill Sobule, Alix Olson, and Girlyman..
