Who was Albert Lasker?
Albert Davis Lasker was an American businessman who is often considered to be the founder of modern advertising. He was born in Freiburg, Germany when his American parents Morris and Nettie Davis Lasker were visiting their ancestral homeland. He was raised in Galveston, Texas, where his father was the president of several banks. In Chicago, he became a partner in the advertising firm of Lord & Thomas, later purchasing the firm. He had many successful ad campaigns and made new use of radio for them, changing popular culture and appealing to consumers' psychology. He was elected to the American National Business Hall of Fame.
