Who is André Santos?
André Clarindo dos Santos, more commonly known as André Santos, is a Brazilian footballer who has previously featured for the Brazil national football team. Santos is a left-back, who can also be deployed as a left winger.At his peak he was thought to be one of the finest left backs in the world. His premier league performance against Manchester United is generally considered the highlight of his career, and after the match he became known as 'the rock', and he pleased Arsenal fans even more after swapping shirts with Arsenal club legend Robin van Persie, who despite playing at Manchester United gets a standing ovation after every game he plays against Arsenal. He is a youth product of Figueirense for whom he made his senior debut in a friendly game against Corinthians. On 15 June 2009, he made his first international appearance as a substitute in a match against Egypt. Santos participated and helped Brazil capture the 2009 FIFA Confederations Cup. He joined Arsenal from Fenerbahçe in August 2011.
