Who is Ann C. Palmenberg?
Ann C. Palmenberg is a professor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in the Department of Biochemistry. She is also the Chair of the Institute for Molecular Virology and former President of the American Society for Virology. Dr. Palmenberg earned her BS from St. Lawrence University followed by a PhD from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Work in her lab currently focuses on "Molecular biology of RNA picornaviruses; protein translation, proteolytic processing; RNA synthesis; viral pathogenesis; viral vaccines, vaccine vectors; computer-based sequence analysis". She has received numerous awards and has several patents to her name relating to viral vaccines, proteins, and vectors including the IRES of EMCV. In her free time she is an avid fan of UW Athletics and also enjoys gardening.
