Father of Alice Frank and Margot and Anne's great-grandfather. A man who made his fortune dealing in silver-plated merchandise was concerned more with assimilation than with his Jewish background. Almost as if they knew this in advance, his parents had named him August Heinrich, which was the name of Goethe's son.
