Who is Bill Gallagher?
Alfred William Gallagher was a New Zealand farmer, inventor, manufacturing engineer, businessman and commercial fisherman. He was born in Hamilton, New Zealand on 17 May 1911.
He developed the electric fence for farmers in 1936–1937, and founded the Gallagher Group to manufacture it.
His son, Sir William Gallagher, joined the family business in the 1970s and still owns it as of 2013. Another son, John, was in the business until 1997.
