Who was Frances Jocelyn, Viscountess Jocelyn?
Frances Elizabeth Jocelyn, Viscountess Jocelyn, VA was a British courtier and amateur photographer.
The former Lady Frances Elizabeth Cowper was the daughter of Peter Cowper, 5th Earl Cowper and his wife Emily. In 1838, she was one of the trainbearers at the coronation of Queen Victoria and served as a bridesmaid at the wedding of the latter to Prince Albert in 1840.
On 9 April 1841, Lady Frances married the politician, Robert Jocelyn, Viscount Jocelyn, the eldest son of Robert Jocelyn, 3rd Earl of Roden. Now a courtesy viscountess, Lady Jocelyn was appointed a Lady of the Bedchamber to the Queen that year. Lord and Lady Jocelyn had four children:

⁕Edith Elizabeth Henrietta, married Arthur Gore, Viscount Sudley.
⁕Robert, later 4th Earl of Roden
⁕Frederick Spencer Jocelyn
Lady Jocelyn outlived both her husband and all of her children and died in her sixtieth year in 1880.
