Who was Hamza ibn Abdul-Muttalib?
Hamza ibn ‘Abdul-Muttalib was a companion and paternal uncle of the Islamic prophet Muhammad. The epic Hamzanama narrates his legendary exploits and adventures.
His kunyas were Abu Umara and Abu Yaala. He had the by-names Lion of God and the Lion of Paradise, and Muhammad gave him the posthumous title Sayyid-ush-Shuhda.
