Who was Madeleine de Puisieux?

Madeleine d'Arsant de Puisieux was a French writer and feminist.

Madeleine de Puisieux, who was born in Paris, became a published author in 1745 and sometimes collaborated with Denis Diderot. In 1750, she published La Femme n'est pas inférieure à l'homme. She was married to Philippe-Florent de Puisieux, lawyer at the Paris parliament and the French ambassador to Switzerland. She was given a state pension in 1795.
