Who is Madhav Manjunath Shanbhag?

Madhav Manjunath Shanbhag an advocate by profession from Karwar, who with a few like-minded companions travelled in all the Konkani speaking areas, seeking to unite the fragmented Konkani community under the banner of 'one language, one script, one literature'. He succeeded in organizing the first Adhiveshan of All India Konkani Parishad in Karwar in 1939.

Goa Konkani Academy has instituted Madhav Manjunath Shanbhag Konkani Bhasha Seva Puraskar – The Award includes Cash of Rs. 25,000/- Certificate, Memento & Shawl. Those who have completed 50 years of age and who have worked as an Activist, Leader, Organiser either in Goa, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Kerala or in any other state are eligible for this lifetime achievement award.
