Who was Nikolaos Makris?
Nikolaos Makris was a Greek soldier and politician.
He was the son of Dimitrios Makris, a military leader during the Greek War of Independence of 1821. He entered the Greek Army. He was sent to France for training. After his return, he participated in the Greco-Turkish War of 1897 where he fought in the area of Taratsa and won there.
After the war, he left the army and continued as chief of the Athens police. He was elected MP several times.
