Robert Gordy

Who is Robert Gordy?

Robert Louis Gordy was the youngest child of Berry Gordy, Sr. and Bertha Fuller, and is best known as the youngest brother of Motown founder, Berry Gordy, Jr.. Gordy is the father of Robert Louis Gordy, Jr.

He had a brief career as a recording artist, having a minor hit in 1958 with the novelty song, "Everyone Was There", co-written with his brother Berry, under the stage name Bob Kayli. He co-wrote five other songs with Berry, plus one with Berry and brother George Gordy.

After the death of his sister, Loucye, he became head of Jobete Music, Motown's publishing division.

Gordy played the character "Hawk" in the film, Lady Sings the Blues.

Robert is now in his mid-eighties, in good health, and resides in California.
