Who was Rose Leveson-Gower, Countess Granville?

Rose Leveson-Gower, Countess Granville, GCVO was the third daughter of 14th Earl of Strathmore and Kinghorne by his wife, Nina Cecilia, and an elder sister of Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother.

On 24 May 1916, Rose married Hon. William Leveson-Gower, who succeeded to his childless brother's earldom in 1939. As a result of her marriage, Lady Rose Constance Bowes-Lyon was styled as Countess Granville on 21 July 1939. She was invested as a Companion, Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St John of Jerusalem. She was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Law by Queen's University Belfast. She was invested as a Dame Grand Cross, Royal Victorian Order in 1953. They had two children, Lady Mary Cecilia Clayton and Granville James Leveson-Gower, 5th Earl Granville.

Rose, Countess Granville stood godmother to her niece, Princess Margaret Rose of York, at the latter's christening on 3 October 1930.
