Who is Samuel H Pieh?

Samuel Hingha Pieh, MPH

Born & raised in Sierra Leone, West Africa -July 9, 1948

Migrated to the USA for higher Education in 1968

Earned Ba degree in Biological Sciences from Indiana Central College-Indianapolis in 1972; MPH in public & environmental Science from University of Michigan in 1975.

Coordinated establishment and accreditation of undergraduate degree program at Mississippi Valley State University from 1975 to 1980.

Responded to the call of his parents to return to Sierra Leone for servant-leadership while caring for parents who were weak in health and wellbeing. Samuel and wife with one son-S. Hingha travelled to Sierra Leone purely on emotional response to parents call for service. While in Sierra Leone, Samuel applied for employment and in few weeks was employed by the Cooperative American Relief Everywhere (CARE) as Manager for Water Supply & Community Health. Samuel interacted with parents and learned a lot about the Pieh family history from parents, paramount Chiefs and elders in Sierra Leone. He and wife -Clara and 3 sons returned to the USA for medical reasons and determination to learn more about his family history.

While at the Tulane University, Amistad Research researching his family history and linkage to the Amistad story, Debbie Allen called to seek information and contacts about the Amistad and the director passed her phone call to me. She later invite me to served as Language Teacher for the 5 Children who were casted for the making of the Amistad Film by her and Steven Spielberg. While serving in that role, Steven Spielberg castted me as a Screen Actor- Suuleh ( one of the elders of the Enslaved African. A role which further motivated me to learn more of our history as Africans and acknowledge the outstanding servant-leadership roles early Americans and Sierra Leoneans (including my parents) played to ensure Freedom and Justice for All mankind. Have been active educator and motivator for Partnerships with Conscience for mutual benefits without Prejudice.
