Who is Steve Owens?

Loren Everett "Steve" Owens is a former American college and professional football player who was a running back in the National Football League for five seasons during the 1970s. He played college football for the University of Oklahoma, and was the 1969 Heisman Trophy winner and an All-American. He was drafted in the first round of the 1970 NFL Draft, played professionally for the NFL's Detroit Lions, and became the first Lion to rush for over a thousand yards in a season.
