Who is Ulrich Luz?
Ulrich Luz is a Swiss theologian, and professor at the University of Bern.
He was born in Männedorf and studied Protestant theology in Zurich, Göttingen and Basel under Hans Conzelmann, Eduard Schweizer, and Gerhard Ebeling. He taught at the International Christian University in Tokyo from 1970-1971. From 1972 to 1980 he was professor of New Testament at Göttingen, then became professor of New Testament at the University of Bern in Switzerland in 2003.
Much of his research has focused on the Gospel of Matthew, and he has seven honorary doctorates. He served as president of the Studiorum Novi Testamenti Societas in 1998.
He and his wife, Salome Keller, have three children.
