Who is Zain Shaito?

Zain Shaito is an Olympic international fencer, who, along with his sister Mona Shaito, fenced foil at the 2012 Olympic Games held in London. Shaito, who was raised in Texas and attended Ohio State, holds dual citizenship, both Lebanese and American.

Shaito, who was on the national Ohio State fencing team, won the individual title in men’s foil at the NCAA Fencing Championships in 2012. He was named the 2011-12 Ohio State Male Athlete of the Year, becoming the second fencer in OSU history to earn the title. In 2011, Shaito was a Second Team All-American and a first-place finisher at the Midwest Fencing Conference Championships. In 2016, he hopes to compete for the United States in the modern pentathlon.
