Biography

www.buzzcarlton.com American Singer-Songwriter, Buzz Carlton, was born Clyde Gordon Carlton Jr. on August 8, 1962 in Richmond, VA. By the age of two, Buzz Carlton showed a knack for singing. While growing up the only child of a single parent in the West End of Richmond, he was influenced by a variety of styles and artists. As a youth he participated in organized sports, but his real interest was music. Carlton was raised in a troubled household, which lead to his leaving home at a young age. Finding it difficult to hold a steady job, he began playing guitar, writing songs, and singing in nightclubs. While working his way along the East Coast in the mid 1980s, Carlton's popularity as a club singer led to his being selected to open concerts for a number of Country music celebrities. In the late 80's, he relocated to Nashville TN, later settling in his hometown in 2001. His troubled past would continue to haunt him, and bouts with severe alcohol abuse frequently landed him in hospitals, leading to chronic stints of homelessness.

In 2004 Millhouse Records released an EP of Carlton’s material entitled “Blame it on the Blues”. His follow up album, "Just This Side of the Blues", showcases 10 of his original songs and was given 3 stars by "All Media Guide" (AMG). His highly acclaimed third album, “Somebody Get Me My Guitar”, also given 3 stars by (AMG), was submitted to the Recording Academy for Grammy Award consideration. "The Way My Daddy Done" was the first single to come off the album reaching #1 on the Cashbox Indie Country Charts in January of 2008. A compilation album of his work was released in 2008 entitled "The Best of Buzz Carlton". In 2022, "Ultimate" surfaced, including the tracks "The Star-Spangled Banner", and "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen".

Buzz Carlton's songs are receiving digital airplay on internet radio and can be downloaded at digital music sites world wide. Buzz's discography is available at on-line outlets, as well as traditional retailers throughout the U.S. His biographical profile is published in "Who's Who in America", and "Who's Who in the World".
