Who was Rocío Dúrcal?

Rocío Dúrcal, born as María de los Ángeles de las Heras Ortiz, was a Spanish singer and actress. Regarded as the "Queen of Ranchera", she is one of the best-selling Spanish solo artist to date with more than 100 million records sold.

Rocío Dúrcal died on March 25, 2006, due to uterine cancer. A year before her death she received a Latin Grammy Award for musical excellence, a prize that is awarded by the Governing Board of the Recording Latin Academy to artists who have made creative contributions of outstanding artistic significance during their careers.
