Who is Agshin Mehdiyev?

Agshin Shafaat oglu Mehdiyev is the Permanent Representative of Azerbaijan to the United Nations in New York. On 27 January 2009 Mehdiyev was appointed the non-resident Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Jamaica and on 2 April of the same year he started to hold the office of non-resident Azerbaijani Ambassador to Venezuela.

Previously, from February 2001 to October 2006, Mehdiyev served as the Permanent Representative of Azerbaijan to the Council of Europe.

Mehdiyev is the current President of the United Nations Security Council for the month of October 2013. He was also the President of the United Nations Security Council during May 2012.
