He Joined the U.S. Marines out of high school, deployed to Fallujah Iraq and graduated from Bowdoin College. He was elected to the Maine House of Representatives, worked for the Truman National Security Project on energy security, received a direct commission in the Navy reserves and deployed to the Middle East.
