Who is Azeem Amrohvi?
Azeem Amrohi is an Urdu poet and a scholar. He is the leading marsiya writer of the present era and the Urdu media refer to him as asr e hazir ka Meer. Amrohi started writing poetry early in his life and has written almost every form of Urdu poetry, including Hamd, naat, nazm, ghazal, qasida, salaam and manqabat. As of 2011 he was most famous for his 30 elegiac marsiya.
