Who is Bob Pompeani?

Robert Gregg Pompeani is an American journalist and sports reporter who serves as a sports anchor and sports director for KDKA-TV in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Joining the station in 1982, he has provided a distinguished, friendly and steady perspective on the Pittsburgh’s sports scene for over 40 years. Pompeani also capably serves as head play-by-play announcer for Pittsburgh Steelers preseason games and has done so for 24 years running. For 35 years, he has honored local high school students’ exceptional accomplishments in academics, athletics, and community service by giving out the Extra Effort Award. Pompeani is an active and upstanding member of the Pittsburgh community and a venerable charity fundraiser - with a presence on the board of directors for the American Heart Association, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and Partners for Quality Foundation, the Give the Kids the World Foundation, the Mario Lemieux Foundation, and Lending Hearts. An avid golfer himself, Bob has overseen the Bob Pompeani Charity Golf Classic for Citizen’s care, to raise money for people with mental disabilities, for the last 32 years. Bob has raised millions of dollars through his philanthropic efforts. With a list of accolades and awards almost too numerous to list, perhaps his most notable was his 2015 induction into the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame.

Pittsburgh being his lifelong hometown, he is especially respected, easily recognized, and truly beloved for his close-knit ties and indelible service to the city he loves.
