Who is Brandon Victor Dixon?

Brandon Victor Dixon is an American stage actor. For his role as Harpo in the original Broadway production of The Color Purple, he was nominated for the Tony Award for Best Featured Actor in a Musical. He also originated the role of Haywood Patterson, in the Off-Broadway Production of The Scottsboro Boys. For that role he was nominated for the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Actor in a Musical. Other credits include Tom Collins in the Off-Broadway production of Rent, Royal in the Encores! production of House of Flowers and Simba in the Chicago production of The Lion King. He is a graduate of Columbia University and St. Albans School.

In 2013, Dixon created the role of Berry Gordy, Jr. in the original Broadway production of "Motown The Musical," which opened at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre on April 14, and for which Dixon was nominated for a Drama League Award as Best Lead Actor in a Musical.
