Who was Bruno Freiherr von Brackel?
Bruno Franz Arnold Anton Freiherr von Brackel was a highly decorated officer of the Wehrmacht during the Second World War and a recipient of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross, which was awarded to recognise extreme battlefield bravery or successful military leadership.
Brackel was killed on 13 August 1941, near Korsun-Shevchenkivskyi, Ukraine. He was posthumously awarded the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross on 23 August 1941 and promoted Captain.
