Cristina Carvalhal was born in Lisbon. In 1987 she graduated from Theatre at the Escola Superior de Teatro e Cinema. In the same year she entered on the play "A Dama do Maxim's" at the Teatro Aberto, and afterwards she entered on "A Rua", "Happy End", "O Suicidário", "O Hotel da Belavista", "Um Sabor a Mel", "Opera dos Três Vinténs", "Top Girls", "As Balcantes", "Odeio Hamlet", "Novos Confessionários", "Danças a um Deus Pagão", "Um Vestido para 5 Mulheres" and "Elanor Marx", among others.
