Who was Frank Watkins?
Frank Vernon Watkins was an officer of the Royal New Zealand Air Force during the Second World War. He was killed in air operations trying to save a close comrade and for this action was recommended for the Victoria Cross, the most prestigious award for gallantry in the face of the enemy that can be awarded to British and Commonwealth forces.
